It is breeding season for coyotes and Englewood's Animal Control officers are urging residents to be especially cautious when walking their pets. While coyotes are seeking mates and breeding (from now through January) they are likely to be more prominent and may have a tendency to become aggressive.
Pet-owners are encouraged to keep a close watch on their pets. Small dogs and cats outside can be an attractive food source for coyotes and other wildlife. Always supervise your pet outside and keep your dog on a short leash while walking.
Coyotes and other wildlife concerns fall under the jurisdiction of the Colorado Division of Wildlife. For additional information on keeping pets safe from coyotes, visit the Division of Wildlife's Web site.
