Duncan Park School building demolition to begin mid-May
Posted Date: 5/4/2012

Demolition of the old school building at Englewood's Duncan Park (4880 South Pennsylvania Street) is scheduled to begin Monday, May 14 and should be completed by the end of the month. The demolition will make way for planned improvements at the park.

During the demolition, neighbors can expect increased truck traffic in the area. Construction hours will be limited to the hours of 8 am to 5 pm in order to lessen impacts on the neighborhood. After the demolition and environmental cleanup are complete, new irrigation and sod will be installed at the park in early June.

After a months-long process to gather neighborhood input and plan for enhancements at Duncan Park, the final design has been approved. The demolition of the structure is the first phase in implementing the planned upgrades. Over the next several months Englewood Parks and Recreation plans to apply for open space grants that will help bring the project to fruition.

Englewood Parks and Recreation thanks neighbors in advance for their patience during this project.
